In the Frame – Suzanne Morrison: Creation – Meditation – Play

224 Dowling St Dungog, NSW, 2420, Australia [View Map]

Dungog by Design is excited to announce November’s Dungog by Design Members Exhibition, “Creation – Meditation – Play”, celebrating the inspiration, spirit and creativity of Suzanne Morrison.

Creating art from clay is her passion. It lifts her up, gives her solace and peace. It is comparable to being in contact with the earth which connects us to the very beginning of time.

Whilst living in Armidale Suzanne was lucky enough to find amazing Japanese potters who awakened her passion to create. Kiyo and Kumi Hashimoto emigrated to Australia in 1991and set up their studio in this rural town which Suzanne loved so much.

Although the Japanese aesthetic has stayed with her, especially the ash glazes, she has found her own unique style. Furthermore, studying at Newcastle TAFE for 12 months with Sue Stewart, Helen Dunkerley and Suzanne Reid further inspired Suzanne.

Hand building is her forte with the wheel coming into play intermittently. Glazes excite her. She likes fine lines and unusual shapes and forms which often come about organically. This comes from her soul and innate creative spirit.
